Poker Hand Rankings
The best hand falls into the following order from highest to lowest.
Royal Flush : A, K, Q, J, and 10 of a single suit. Straight Flush : 5 cards of
ascending rank in a single suit. Ranked by highest card.
eg. 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of Hearts 4 Of A Kind : 4 cards of the same rank and a
"kicker". Ranked by the highest quad, and sub ranked by the highest
kicker.
eg. Four 10s and a 3 Full House : 3 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another
rank. Ranked by the highest triplet, sub ranked by the highest pair.
eg. Three 4s and two Kings Flush : 5 cards of the same suit. Ranked by highest
card, sub-ranked by next highest card and so forth.
eg. 4, 8, 10, Jack and Ace of hearts Straight : 5 cards of ascending order (any
suit). Ranked by highest card.
eg. 4 and 7 of spades 5 and 3 of hearts and a 6 of diamonds 3 Of A Kind : 3
cards of the same rank with two "kickers". Ranked by the highest
triplet. Sub ranked by the highest kicker followed by the next highest kicker. 2
Pair : 2 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another rank and a "kicker".
Ranked by the highest pair. Sub ranked by the lowest pair and then further sub
ranked by the kicker. 1 Pair : 2 cards of one rank, plus three "kickers".
Ranked by the highest pair. Sub ranked by the highest kicker and then further
ranked by the next highest kicker and so on. No Pair : Highest single card wins.
Sub ranked by the second highest card, third highest and so forth.
